I'm doing a cake for someone next week. He video tapes the high school football games for the school and I thought I would do a cake around that idea. I thought about doing a football field, which doesn't sound too hard, but I'm not sure how to incorporate the video taping aspect, unless I just leave it out. Any suggestions?

do cake in shape of the camera....with an image of the football game (edible image?) on the viewfinder.

Thanks for the idea Doug. Only problem is I don't have a printer or edible paper to make an edible image.

How about an old time camera, with the frames coming out...make some of them blurred or dark, then make one with the school helmet, one with a football, one with a goal post. You could incorporate any color scheme.

You could even make the football field with a film strip going over the top with pics from the football game!

You can find a bakery near you and bring in what you want printed for an edible image and they will print for you, for a fee. I know one of the bakeries in my town does it for $10 but, you can bring in a page of photos and they will print them all how you printed them onto the page. Hope that makes sense!

Thanks. I'm not sure if I can do the edible image thing. Does anyone else have any suggestions? Does anyone know how I would go about making a video camera cake?

so do a carved cake camera and the photo could just be a real printout of one...

and remind them that photos are NOT edible.

I'm still having a heck of a time figuring out how I want to do this. One thought was to make a TV cake using 2 8x2" square cakes and cutting both of them in half and stacking them to create a 8x8x4" tower. Then I could probably make a little camcorder by molding rice krispie treats and covering it in modeling chocolate. And on the TV screen I could try to do a football scene by cutting pieces of colored MMF or modeling chocolate on the cake. I'm just worried that it won't turn out good.
