i BAKED THIS YELLOW CAKE FROM SCRATCH AND IT WAS NICE AND MOIST BUT THEN I CUT INTO IT TO LEVEL THE CAKE AND THEN I WRAPPED IT TIGHT WITH SYRAN WRAP. THE NEXT DAY IT SEEMED SLIGHTLY DRY. HOW CAN I PREVENT THAT.

Try a simple syrup wash on the top after cooling. Make with equal parts water and sugar(can add flavoring if you like) heat on stove to dissolve sugar5-10 min. then brush on top of cake. Not to much or it will get soggy. Then wrap.

I used to use the syrup all the time but now I just wrap in several layers of saran wrap and freeze, when I defrost they come out really moist. Either way will make your cake moist.
