Will a hardened royal icing piece on top of a buttercream cake be ok in the fridge?

yes, you are fine icon_smile.gif
I have even piped royal right onto it, and I use a high fat icing (SMBC)

Thank you for answering! The pieces won't disintegrate on the buttercream? The party is for tomorrow and I'm almost done decorating it. I just need to put two big pieces of royal icing on top of it.

You were absolutely right! I put the pieces on the cake Friday night. I took the cake out of the fridge Saturday late afternoon with the Royal Icing pieces still on it. It looked like it would disintegrate, but it didn't! It lasted even after I took the cake out of the fridge. I was able to lift the pieces off when I cut into the cake and they came off in one piece.
