I'm a bit lacking in the idea department, so I'd thought I'd call on you guys for help!!!! Does anyone have a cake idea for twin sisters turning 40??? It can't be too big--only needs to feed about 12-15 people, but I really want to make it special!!!
Thanks for your help! icon_biggrin.gif

Do you know them well? My husband and his twin are both very artistic- one with paints and the other with music, so I've done combination cakes for them with elements of both. Perhaps they have a shared interest that you can incorporate?

Or how about getting a early baby photo of the two, then use those computer images and decorate around it, but leave out the names. Make the guests figure out which one is which (unless they're not identical?)

Or, if the theme is "over the hill" maybe two figures walking downhill, holding hands with something sweet about the two always being there for each other. "Sisters by birth, friends by choice" something sweet like that.

Or, lastly, here's some quotes I found- maybe one will inspire something.

Old age is fifteen years older than I am.
Oliver Wendell Holmes Sr.

Jo: I could never love anyone as I love my sisters.
Little Women

Young in limbs, in judgement old.
Act II, sc. 7.
William Shakespeare > The Merchant of Venice

My salad days, when I was green in judgement, cold in blood.
Act I, Sc. 5.
William Shakespeare > Antony and Cleopatra

No man loves life like him that's growing old.
Acrisius, fragment 64
Sophocles

I am not young enough to know everything.
The Admirable Crichton, act 1.
J.M. Barrie

good luck

Thanks Kathy!!! I like the idea about combining interests/hobbies or the walking down the hill cake!

Oh, I love that quote "sisters by birth-friends by choice!" Thanks so much!!!!

How about this...

"Twins split everything....
So Happy 20th to you both!"

Make sense? Ha ha.. I don't know. I should be making my Thanksgiving cake right now but for some reason I'm on the computer!! Happy Turkey Day!
