Need Help With This Cake

I am wanting to recreate this cake for my twins 1st birthday anyone have any suggestions on how to?
I do not know if the characters are made of fondant or just plastic.
I also do not want it to be so big because a cake like this serves alot and i just need it to serve about 25 people but i like the 3 tier look.....PLEASE HELP!!!!!!

If you do not want a three tier how about a two tier - 9 and 6. this way you have room on the 9" to do the decorations . To me it looks like plastic toys pressed against the cake. You can do it.

It looks plastic to me, too. The fish on the second tier look like they're piped in buttercream. I agree with leana that you could just do two tiers, or if you want a smash cake, do the three tiers and let the top tier be a smash cake for the kids. Overall, it seems like it would be fairly easy to do. I think you can definitely do it! Good luck! icon_smile.gif

They sell those same plastic figurines at the Dollar Tree in our town.

For my DD's 1st b-day I wanted a 3 tiered cake also, because of the design, but we didn't have that many people coming to the party, so I did 8 and 6 inch cakes, then made another 6 inch cake which I trimmed down to 3 or 4 inches, for the top tier, and that was her smash cake. Maybe you could just cut it in half, since you have twins, and give them each half of it icon_razz.gif . Good luck!

You could do color flow sesame street characters. Just find a coloring book with the pictures and color flow them.They won't be as dimensional as the toys on that cake but I think they'll be just as cute and they will be edible. icon_smile.gifthumbs_up.gifthumbs_up.gifparty.gif

What a cute cake! I know that party city also sells plastic sesame street figurines. Maybe you could do 3 tiers...but use 10,8,6. You could let some of your guests take some home if you have a lot left over.

You could always make the bottom cake of the tier a "dummy" using styrofoam wrapped in saran wrap. That would give you the look, but not all the cake to get rid of. Dummys are available at most cake supply shops and craft stores. Good Luck! icon_smile.gif
