And, if so, any hints you can share? I have a client who wants perfect, square edges & corners on her fondant-covered cake....I'm pretty decent with getting clean edges, but they are always a little rounded.

Thanks,

Hi again - Anyone? I know I have seen cakes using this method - sorry I haven't had any time today to search for some examples in the gallery...

thanks

Have a look at this posting because I asked the same question along with another member.

Hope you can get something out of these.

Thanks so much! I couldn't think of any other words to search by besides "fondant panels" LOL. I really love some of those Confetticakes designs...

Using smoothers is how I usually get the squared off edges already, so I guess my best will just have to be good enough! I still think you could cut exact-sized panels to make the sides truly crisp, but I'm not going to experiment on this client's wedding cake!

Thanks again,

Jen N

I didn't check out the links but I would think if you did the panels then modeling chocolate would work well b/c you can smooth out the seams. Didn't Mike McCarey do this in one of the challenges??
