I know someone already posted they had this problem...can't find the thread. I made cake balls yesterday. Baked the cake let it cool, mixed the cakes balls up let them dry 3 hours then dipped them in candy melts. After the chocolate had hardened they started leaking a small amount what looked like water?, out of any spot that wasn't totally covered in chocolate. I set them on a paper towel to dry off, they did. Some of the cake balls were made with marble cake that had been frozen and they did the same thing? This is the 4th batch I have made and have never had a problem until now! Of course it was for someone else. Normally I dip them with a plastic fork and 2 tines broken off(just stab with both remaining tines) but I didn't have any plastic forks and used skewers(worked great). Any ideas why this happened? By the way the cake balls are fine now...I hope they are dried out LOL!

Anything I dip the chocolate looks wet during the drying process. That is how it dries out by expelling the moisture. They probably weren't oozing just the condinsation that happens when chocolate is drying.
I made a very small batch and i know exactly what your talking about! I think its grease or oil...anyways after they set a while i whiped the bottom off with a paper towl and then sealed the "hole" with some of the same chocolate I dipped them in and set them on their sides so that would set. I put them in the little mini cupcake papers and didnt notice any leaking after that. ![]()
