icon_cry.gif I baked a 10x15 sheet cake by Toba Garret's yellow cake recipe, I got busy icing another cake and forgot it...I am terrified that it is going to be dry...I wrapped it up while it was still warm in plastic wrap, hoping that would help! Has anybody ever tried to use a simple syrup on this cake and how would it work if I was icing it with buttercream and decorating it? Please help me, I have to ice and decorate after work today and deliever by 7pm!! icon_redface.gif Thanks in advance!!

I have never had that cake come out dry and I never wrap it while warm. Hope that helps. I would think that a simple sugar solution would still work well.

Only way to find out is to actually taste it...

It's a cake. OF COURSE you can use SS on it--It would be fine, even if it was fresh and you put the syrup on it, as long as you just spritz it on and don't SOAK it.

Best luck,

Well let me tell the whole story...I used 1 1/2 recipes and the cake pan is a magic line 3 incher. To mix up all the varibles I have a new oven, this week is the first time I have baked in it. I cut my temperature back to 330 hoping that it would not dry out the edges. I haven't ever made this simple syrup, only read about it. Can anybody tell me how to do it?

I use simple syrup all the time, even if cake not dry. But if it is dry it works like a charm. Just brush over top. I left a cake in to long and it was dry so I also brushed the sides. Be careful and don't over do or you will have a heck of time with icing.
