icon_surprised.gif just found out I have to be at 2 places for thanksgiving and now need 2 cakes instead of one. Brother requesting tres leches cake which I have never made.

Does any one have a favorite recipe scratch or box that they could share. I saw the one in recipe section, anyone else have a good one? Thanks in advance.

Look for the thanksgiving from hell in the general section on friday.

Family, gotta love "em they keep life interesting.

(not that the one in cc is not good! sorry)

Hey Girl!

I love this cake:

http://www.cakecentral.com/cake_recipe-576-Tres-Leches-III.html

I had to make it recently for a presentation dh had to give at school and when you're the presenter you have to buy lunch for everybody-great for a poor student with a sahw and toddler so needless to say big momma cooked and baked a cake for dessert! icon_wink.gif

Anyway, I digress....what I did with this one for transport/serving (because I didn't want them cutting the cake in my pan) I baked it in my normal 9x13, got it out of the pan like normal, let it cool on a rack and then moved it to one of those disposable 9x13 cake pans.

Couple more things with this cake:

Use wax paper on bottom of the pan (my first one stuck then I remembered to do this! icon_redface.gif )
I use a dowel to poke holes in the cake then pour the topping over because it just doesn't sink in otherwise

Everyone was really happy with it!

Enjoy!

Thanks dodi if you recommend it I know it will be good and the yield is just right. Have a safe and happy thanksgiving. norma

PS: My honey had to the same thing (presenter) when he worked at the phone company and it was always on week when we were short of funds!!

Hiya dolfin,
The one in CC is quite good and hold lots of the milk mixture. Makes for a nice yummy cake. I like to put fruit in mine n such. So when I use canned peaches I take the juice and mix it with the three milks and boy does that make the whole cake yummier. Just a thought. I would use a very light frosting though either whipped cream or the whipped cream buttercream recipe on this site is good and you can do decorations with it too.

I forgot-I make the whipped cream a little different than called for-I use the 2c but add 4tblsp of powdered sugar at the beginning and when it gets to soft peak I add 2 tsp vanilla and just maybe 1-1 1/2 tsp of white sugar. I haven't tried it according to the recipe since dh likes it this way!

Have a great gobble gobble!
