I'm back with yet another question! I've been practising techniques on a cake for the past several days. It's a beer shaped cake and I thought I'd give to my brother for his poker night. Is the cake too old to be eaten? It's been covered in buttercream since I baked it 5 days ago but not refrigerated ( just has buttercream filling). I don't want to get anyone sick right before Thanksgiving!! ![]()
I don't think they would get sick but it could be a bit dry by now. I made a cake Sat and threw out the left overs today. It was in the fridge though so maybe that's why it dried out.
I only like to eat fresh cake and so I won't keep a cake but few days.
Thanks everyone! Yea, most guys will eat anything, and noone complained of feeling sick!!!
I've just got a Lindy Smith book, In her small recipe section, she allows 2 WEEKS for her madeia cake....1 week baking and decorating and 1 week eating...umm not to sure on 2WEEKS?...but hers is scratch cake...dont know about box cakes....but also a few weeks ago I made a cake for bonfire party...8 days later someone said "oh I just finished off the last bit of cake today!!!!!, it was still very nice" I said OMG...its a bit of a long time after making it to eat it....she's still alive
. thank goodness...but we cant be responsible for how long they keep em and eat em, we can only advise ![]()
