My niece is turning 3 this weekend and my sister in law asked me to make the cake. The only thing she said was my niece likes monkeys, and "girly things" like butterflies and flowers. Also the cake should feed about 30.
I am at a loss for creative ideas and I have to bake tonight. Anyone have any suggestions? I searched the forums and found a couple cute cakes but thought I'd ask too. icon_smile.gif

thanks in advance - alexis

i did this one for a little boy's bday, but you could add some butterflies on wires flying around his head...

jwong9664 - you're monkey cake is adorable.

aaversa - you could have the monkey holding a bouquet of flowers or wearing a tiara or a big pink bow to make it more girly.

A friend of mine recently made a monkey cake for her little girl. She used this picture to go by for her decorations. It worked up really cute. You could either draw the pictures on or sculpt them out of fondant. I know it isn't a very good pic. it is all I could find. It is Bobby Jack.

I made a monkey cake for my niece last year .. its in my photo gallery if you want to take a look it was really easy to do and I think you could "girly" it up by changing some colors and adding flowers..

Thanks everyone for the great ideas.

jwong9664 & TheCakerator your monkey cakes are great!

I don't have time to do a sculpted cake so I'll probably be using your cake, TheCakerator for inspiration - hope that's ok.

I'll post a picture when I'm done.

thanks again everyone. icon_smile.gif

I also made a monkey cake this weekend. It was for my nephew's birthday. I thought it turned out well. It was a lot easier than I thought it would be.
