Let me start by saying I love our two cats and don't want anything to happen to them, but if they don't stop pooping in my flowers and at the foot of my deck I am going to strangle them! icon_mad.gif I have little toddlers that come in everyday with kitty poop on their shoes or worse their bare feet! icon_surprised.gif These cats don't even attempt to bury it, so it is just sitting around in piles. I have a spot in the yard that the kids never play around and it has mulch and loose dirt. I thought when we first got the cats they would go over there. Is there anything I can get to put around the spots where thay are going now that won't hurt them but keep them back? Then just put a little poo were I want them to go, show them and hope the go there. Do you think this will work? Any help would be greatly appreciated. My husband is threatening to get rid of them because they are going right at the bottom of the steps and he is sick of cleaning up the poop. Thanks

To get cats to avoid an area try covering the area with citrus peels, coffee grounds, or cyan pepper. Since it is outside you could also run a sprinkler when they are out or put a couple of bowls with ammonia in the area. Good luck.

Try putting out mothballs. Those smelly little white balls will deter the cats from the area they are pooping in. HTH K'ly

I second the mothballs! But if you detest the smell of them yourself-call your area vet. There is a product called feliaway that might help you.
It comes in a spray and a plug in for your home.

Oh yeah! I forgot about Feliaway. I used it once years ago when I had two cats that didn't get along. I sprayed it on a bandana and put it on the smaller cat so the bigger one would leave him alone. K'ly

I have problems with dogs and cats pooping in my yard and the dogs tear apart the trash. I buy dog/cat repellant at the hardware store. Once brand is Dragon and I cna't remeber the other, it might be an ortho product. I am all for keeping pets indoors and on leashes or not at all.
