A bride wants this cake (different colors and flavors, but this cake...same servings)

And she wants it delivered 100 miles away (200 round trip!)
I'm not as concerned about the price of the cake as the delivery... what I'm figuring out seems crazy high, what would you charge?

Bare minimum you've got to figure out how much gas your vehicle will use for this trip and what that will cost and then decide if you want to charge something for your time too.

Gorgeous cake. How do you do white chocolate bubbles?

What is the going rate for mileage? $0.38 or something like that? So you're looking at a delivery fee of at least $75.00...

Well the company I worked for was reimbursing travel at 40 cents per mile when I retired. That would be .40 x 200 = $80.00. Plus travel time, at whatever price you wish to charge, approximately 2.5 hours. Not less than $100.

May I ask --How much are you getting paid for this cake? Servings and price per?

You could use the Federal guidelines for mileage allowances, set by the IRS. Right now, I think it is 44.5 cents per mile, so you would be charging the bride an $89 delivery fee.

Here is the URL for the IRS standard mileage rates:

Don't underprice yourself! That's a terribly long way to deliver a cake, and if the bride has a problem with paying the price, I'd suggest she go to someone else.

Don't forget to add your hourly fee in the delivery charge!
How fast do you drive while delivering a cake? Do you get your heart in your throat at every jostle? I couldn't do it, it'd drive me nuts every time someone got too close...

Most companies now reimburse at .445 per mile.
