Does anyone have a good source for ordering fall leave cutters? I've seen some good photos here and would like a set that will help me create realistic looking gumpaste leaves.

the cutter is important, but you can find fall leaf shapes almost anywhere. the 'realism' has more to do with how you shape and vein and color the leaf.

It's more time consuming, but you can also make them without cutters by using real leaves (picked off trees and washed) for templates. Just put the leaf on top of your rolled out fondant or gumpaste, cut around the leaf with a sharp knife and press the real leaf down to vein the fondant/gumpaste one.

There are some fondant leaves I made this way on the fall leaf cake in my photos. The advantage is that you can make any type or size of leaf that you can find on a nearby tree, and the veining is as realistic as it gets. Takes longer than using cutters and veiners though.

Magda, that's a great idea but I have to make +120!

What an idea. I haven't thought of that. Living in Vermont, we have tons of Maple leaves here in tons of sizes. I think I'll send the kids out on a leaf hunt this week and gather me some. I have fall foliage festival coming up in 2 weeks, these would be perfect. I was wondering how to make them look real!!! Thanks for sharing. icon_lol.gifthumbs_up.gif

I just got some at Micheal's. Their fall stuff is out now if you have one nearby. It is the Wilton 9 pc leaves and acorn set.

i just bought some leaf cutters at walmart. there was one big size and another container with small sizes. it wasn't in the wilton section though. it was more around the artificial foliage section. maybe it's different in your local store. hope this helps.

I bought the Wilton box of cutters and also the card with the turkey, pumpkin, and oak leaf at Wal-Mart. The box does have 2 different leaves and the acorn and all 3 are in 3 sizes. It was exactly what I was looking for to do the fall and Halloween cookies. thumbs_up.gif
