Took a peek at your gallery and you do good work. Enter just for the experience. You will meet many people of all diffrent levels of skill, pick up lots of pointers and get an idea of what you need to do for next years show then practice all year and WOW them. Just go, enjoy yourself, you never know what can happen.
Course it is easy for me to say I will barely be doing my first county fair in Feb.

cjstor, You should by all means enter the show if you have the desire to do so. Try not to look at it as a "competition" but rather a huge learning experience and confidence builder. What you learn from entering the show may be worth more than you could possibly realize!
I looked at your cakes and your work is worthy of entry. There can be only one "winner" to get the ribbon but to me there are no loosers. Just entering makes you a winner in my eyes! Wish I had the confidence to even think about entering a cake show but I don't yet. Maybe some day I will if it is a small local one!
