I am planning on making some scarecrows using candy melts & using them as cake decorations. How long in advance can I make them? When storing them should I put them in an airtight plastic container, wrap them in wrap first, store in the freezer or fridge, etc? I'm just wondering b/c I'm going to be making quite a few cakes for my daughter's fall festival & would like to get as much out of the way as far in advance as possible. thanks

If your candy melts are fresh, you can make your candies a month or more in advance. They don't need to be sealed airtight, but they should be protected from light and dust. No need to refrigerate unless it gets REALLY hot in your house.

Go to your local pizza place and ask for some clean boxes. You can get a ton of candies in them and then you can stack them and take up less room. I did candy melt candies for my baby shower a month/ month and 1/2 in advance and they were fine.

Thanks! this will help me out sooooo much. Being able to make candies in advance will hopefully allow me to make more cakes icon_biggrin.gif
