I am seriously thinking of throwing inthe apron on cake decorating. I'm trying very hard to get my eating under cantroll and cake isn;t helping, i have seen a few 3fatchicks tickers on here (im a member to) how do you loose weight and do cakes. I have 100 lbs to loose! and it feels pretty hopeless ![]()
I would say if you want to keep cake decorating to just use cake dummies and ice those instead. Your portfolio will grow and then you won't have to worry about a cake being there to tempt you. (I need to follow my own advice on this one!) I use to be a personal trainer and aerobics instructor so if you have any questions or need a cheerleader I'm here for you!!! some advice: if you drink pop you need to stop, even if it is DIET pop. Drink water---take your wieght divided in 1/2 and that's how many ounces you should drink throughout the course of the day. (you'll pee like a race horse for the first 3 days, but after that you'll be fine) Eat 6 small meals instead of just 3 big ones.
good luck, you can do it!!!!!!
thanks for the tips! i've lost 60 lbs before but had a baby since then and now its like starting over. for some reason i cant get my but in gear this time. its not the water or exercise ( all i drink is water and i do the tread mill for 20 min everyday) its the eating. Buttercream, vanilla toffe caramel cake, nibble here taste there. Oh my!
yep, that darn buttercream is a downfall for many of us!!! Good job on loosing the 60 lbs., if you did it once you can do it again! I'm sure the baby is keeping you busy though so may be that's part of the reason you can't get your butt in gear---you are probly tired, I have 4 kids myself and those little kids sure do take a lot out of you don't they. When I sit down I can hardly get up anymore because my body is just too tired.
If you are drinking water and doing the treadmill that's a great start. I just need to tell you though (and this is not to discourage) but it takes 20 minutes of working out for women to begin the process of the true fat burning stage. Men can work out for 5 minutes and burn 5 minutes of fat. I know life is sooooo not fair on this one! If you can only do the 20 minutes do the 20 by all means. It's better to do this than none at all, I sometimes only have enough time to do 10 minutes on my treadmill but I will still do it for the benifits of health and it just makes me feel better. ![]()
try to stay away from the buttercream and cake the best you can, I myself have this problem so I don't have any advice there. best of luck and keep up the good work and you will surely make your goal!
Before you start working on a cake, rinse your mouth with Listerine. Trust me, you won't want to taste that BC for a while!!
I agree there as long as your mouth is clean that stuff wont taste good. I would also say that you need to make sure and not drink to much water because after you have a baby you can retain water which will make you gain weight kind of like when you where pregnant. That was a big thing my doctor told me after having the baby. You also need to make sure and try and eat light food which includes your meats chicken needs to be the kind without the broth and no skin at all. As well as hamburger meat needs to be 90% or better nothing less.
I just lost 35 pounds doing that and it felt like it took forever but you cant even tell I ever had the baby. 35 doesnt sound like alot to some people but to me it was I was never over 115 pounds in my life and when I got pregnant it dropped to 100 then I jumped up to 160 and now back to 105 so it was alot of work to lose that 35 pounds and I feel healthy and look great. So just make sure you arent drinking to much water and that you not only cut back on food but make sure that food is healthy.

or eat a pickle! that works too...in fact after a pickle you wont crave sweets at all.....works for me anyway! ![]()
I have a huge sweet tooth, chocoholic. Combine that with the strong feeling of needing to totally perfect every cake = lots of tasting.
Someone once posted here to chew gum while decorating. That helps me keep out of the buttercream. Because to remove the gum to have a taste makes you wash your hands again. What a process!!! It's helped a bit.
Also I've recently realized that the taste of certain things, like recipes you make over and over again, don't really change. SO there's no REAL need to taste constantly. I try (TRY! LOL) to limit myself to one or two very small tastes of things to make sure they're not funky, for each cake.
Then I hide the finished cake in the fridge (in a non see-thru box!) until I can pawn it off on my coworkers or family. So one small slice of each cake that I'm around to eat.
Also I realized that because I can make cakes or other goodies just about ANYTIME, there's no need to eat a ton when one is finished. So for a real, true, hard-core sweets craving, I can make my own for myself.
I try to make games out of things too. There's always junk at work, store-bought and homemade. I categorically refuse most store-bought goodies. Or I'll have a small taste to see if it's "worth it", and only take a serving if it's VERY VERY good. Also having people around that know what you like the best helps. Let them dig in first. They can tell you if you'll love it or should pass.
It's impossible to tell yourself you can't have any sweets, so make sure to be mindful of what you choose to eat, and to completely enjoy every bite of ONLY THE BEST sweets.
And exercise too. Try to mix up the routine if you can.
One of my favorite videos is the Crunch Boot Camp, and just about anything by Kathy Smith is great too, she's a fun instructor.
Don't feel hopeless. Take it a few lbs. at time!
