I really wish my feet would touch the floor!!! LOL I am so short that when I sit in my computer chair my feet don't touch the floor. I either have to let them dangle or put them in the chair with me. Either way it tends to cut off my circulation! LOL

Please tell me I am not the only one... Do they make chairs for short people like us? And still allow me to comfortably reach the desk for typing?

I told my hubby that if we ever get to build our own house I'm gonna make everything in it little. Little kitchen counters, lower kitchen cabinets, smaller sofa, smaller desks and chairs. He's gonna think he's living in Willie Wonka's Chocolate Factory with the Ompa lompas!! LOL

I'm sure you've already thought of the obvious....lowering the chair...what kind of chair is it?

Did you try it out before you bought it? Maybe you should do that next time if possible.

Exactly how tall are you? And you too, Socake?

Just try to remain positive...there are lots of things shorter people can do vs. taller people. I feel like I'm average height, 5'4", and theres' so much I have to ask my dh to help me with...good thing he's 6'!!

Unfortunately my regular adjustable computer chair broke and I am having to use one of my dining table chairs. But even before it broke if I lowered it enough to touch the floor then I was at an odd angle for reaching my keyboard comfortably.

I am 5' 1". Which is at least taller than my sister. She is only 4' 10". I feel so tall when I am around her LOL

I don't mind being short. It just hurts my legs to let them dangle. I have my feet propped up on top of my speaker thingie right now so it isn't so bad icon_smile.gif

My MIL and mom have the same problem, they're both about 5'3" and are always having someone get something down for them. My 8 year old comes to their shoulder already.
My MIL complains all the time about my kitchen and where I have things, not that she does anything in it often, but I'm 5'10" and my husband is 6'3" so we have items we use every day on the top shelves.

I always wanted to be shorter when I was little, I have 2 cousins who are just a few months younger than me and when we would visit I always felt so huge. My sister makes me feel short though, she's about 6'2" though she says she isn't. icon_lol.gif

I thought I was the only short one! I'm sitting here crisscross in my chair because my laptop is too high to lower the chair. icon_rolleyes.gif

Try finding a step stool made for the bathroom or kids. I use an old sewing box at the regular desks, but my office is TINY so I put the laptop on a bookcase shelf and it works GREAT this way.

One of my best finds was the adjustable table I use for my cakes, with three heights. Resin, 6 ft long, about $50 at Walmart. It is really useful for making cakes because I can lower it to where I need to work right.

I'm 5' 1 3/4" (I'm 5'5" on a good day with the proper shoes icon_lol.gif ) my feet don't even touch the ground when I'm on my own couch. My DH is around 6'3" (I don't know exactly how tall-----but he's tall) but he says he loves short women. Jokes around saying he feels intemidated by tall women so that is why he married me. It would be nice to be tall but at least we don't have to worry about hitting our heads on anything.

mkolmar - my mother is 4'11" and my father 6'4". I just wish I had more of my dad's height!

There are benefits to being short, but a couple more inches wouldn't hurt either.

I am 4'11 3/4" short. I usually sit on one leg to be at the right height for a table. I can only reach the first shelf in my kitchen cabinets. I tried to build my kitchen for my height but was not able to because of the cost of specialized cabinets and appliances to fit the specialized cabinets. Plus my dh said if we wanted to sell we would have a hard time with low cabinets. We have been in this house for 23 years. I doubt if we will ever move. My son will be inherienting it and his fiance is as short as I am and my son is 5'4". The worst is driving. I have to adjust everything and then my dh gets in and fusses because he has to adjust everything to drive. I keep telling him that if I left it the way he wants that I would wreck just backing out of our driveway. He has his own car that I never drive so I don't know why he fusses. My dh says that I am not short, he says that I am vertically challenged. LOL

Oh how I sometimes wish I was short. I am 6 ft. My mom though is 5 ft 2 1/2 in. Do you know how hard it is to find clothes that fit? I know with mom if it fits except length then she just has to cut it off. With me if the length is off then I just can't wear it...lol. Good luck with finding you chairs that work! Just be grateful you chin isn't hitting your knees.

I'm only 5'3" and my DH is 5'7" so our poor children are going to be short just like us. My oldest daughter is only 7 and starting to catch up to me...it's depressing! lol

I have very long legs, I'm 5'8". But I still sit indian style in my chair at work which cuts off my circulation and kills my knees! I think they should just supply us with Lazy Boy recliners and laptops!

I am only 5'2 and my husband is 5'4 I think and so my daughter is going to be short. At least I think I do have a brother thats 15 and 6'2 and is supposed to still put on a bunch of inches.

I am 5' and have the same problem. If I sit back in an easy chair I look like Lily Tomlin when she used to do the little girl routine called Edith Ann. My legs end up straight out. When on the computer I have a pillow on the back of the chair to boost me forward a bit. But I have a bad habit of crossing my legs and if you spend much time on the computer it is bad for the joints and circulation. And yes, they do have adjustable chairs for computers.

LOL.......... I am sooooooooo glad to find company, LOL..........
I even had that problem before I stopped working - was a paralegal before I had my daughter and even though the Firm had top of the line equipment and ergonomic chairs, etc., I STILL had that problem and everyone made fun of me, hahahaaa....
Am only 5 foot and my feet would only touch the ground when chair was at it's lowest point. Problem with that was then the dest was practically level with my NECK! Keyboard had that tray-thingy that slides out from under the desk, which is adjustable, but still was not comfy enough.
sooooooooo, I would sit cross legged in my chair with my keyboard in my lap to type for long periods. Where there's a will, there's a way, LOL...
At home we have the Logitech remote keyboard so I can go anywhere and type remotely. I highly recommend it...!
