The only opinion I have on it is: If you want a deep chocolate use the ganache. You can also mix ganache with chocolate buttercream for a dark color but lighter chocolate taste.

Both are good options. Ganche is nice and richer and the buttercream tends to be a bit lighter in terms of taste.

The coating of ganache always looks elegant if done properly.

Ganache is my favorite topping because it's the easiest for me to work with. It's easy to get smooth and the end result is always perfect. The only thing is if you're spreading it, which is the only way I've used ganache, you have to work quickly before it sets up on the cake. Once it sets, that's it.
