I have to make a 5 tiered cake(14,12,10,8,6) what is the best way to transport this cake? 14 &12 put together and then 10,8& 6 together? not going to have a kitchen or anything to put all layers together, reception is outside.

I've always transported all tiers disassembled, then assembled on site. I dont' need a kitchen to do it .... just assemble on the cake table, adding any borders, flowers, etc. right there.

Personally I dont like to transport stacked... but If you have to I would do like you planned. 2 small stacks and put together when you get there..

I would say separate as best as you can, like you listed. If you look in my pics, I have a wedding cake that I transported in pieces. One layer with the bottom 2, the second layer with the top two tiers. I broght icing with me, a spatula and the tips needed in case of mishaps and also the tip I used for the border that I had to pipe between layers after I put it together.

Best of luck!

Thanks so much for your info. much appreciated. i've transported 2 different cakes that were both 10, 8, & 6 with no problem. This is going to be the largest cake i've done, only nervous about transport. Thanks again
