I made a cake over the weekend for a friend's mom's Birthday. It turned out quite pretty and I was really pleased with her response to the looks of it.
Unfortunately, I used a recipe I had never tried before (my bad)
and it didn't taste too good. She felt so bad telling me about it!! I felt so bad that the cake was barely edible!! So, since I only charged the cost of ingredients in the first place (my choice), I offered her 1/2 the money back (I know that she doesn't have much). She decided that instead, why don't I just take it off the cost of another cake I am doing for her in November. How awesome is that??? She says she had my cakes before and knows that I just had a recipe that did not work out well.
She not only trusts me to do another cake for her (which is one I want to do), but she isn't screaming at me about this last cake!!
I am definitely blessed to have such wonderful friend's in my life.
I know to some, it may sound like I lose because of not even getting paid for the cost of ingredients, but the way I see it is that she is such a true friend who expected nothing returned even though I ruined the part of her mother's b-day party when you get to eat the cake.
She didn't harp on that fact at all!! She even kept telling people how beautiful it was and that she took so many pics of it.
I only do this for a hobby and am so grateful that when people I make cakes for are the best!!
keep on baking... take a bite decorate and try it with icing then throw it away if all your family and friends are tired of cake... the neighborhood kids would enjoy it if nothing else!
