cake is also on here. I got the idea for the grooms cake from several that are in the galleries. So I wanted to say thank you. On the way to deliver the cakes the wedding cake icing melted and started to lean. It was a disaster when we got it there. I stood in the walk in cooler for 45 minutes trying to fix everything. I cried when I saw how damaged the cake was when we got it out of the car. The bride said it was beatiful to her and she was very please with both cakes. I am not happy with it at all. Please let me know what I can do to improve. Thank You.

i love those colors, the "cream" with the dark red roses. Did you arrange the flowers as well? I do see where it started leaning - maybe you could freeze before traveling a little bit?

You have done a wonderful job!!!
The chocolate drizzle needs a little shortening or wax. Use dipping chocolate too.
Make sure all your supports in between each layer are all the same length. This will help with the tilting problem.

Looks very nice to me!

Did you assemble it then transport it? We transport then assemble. Other than that... maybe better support?

Good luck with your next one!

Wow I am impressed! you've only finished course 1?? How long have you been decorating? They are lovely! I wish I could do a wedding cake, I am jealous! I can see where it is leaning a bit. Could be your support, all the same length, did you use enough dowels? Were your cake boards covered? did you use a center dowel? Were your cakes level? Just some ideas for why it might have leaned.

megankennedy I liked the colors too. The flowers I did arrange myself. Was it a bad arrangement?

Fatandhappy- yes I did assemble it first and then transport it. But I won't do that again.

merissa I only started decorating just recently. Like about a month ago. I know that I have a long way to go. But I love doing this.

I wanted to say thank you all for your comments and suggestions. I didn't know that the dowels had to all be one length. And I did have a center dowel going down the middle. As a matter of fact on every layer I had 4 dowels to hold the next layer. Although again I didn't realize that they had to be the same size. Maybe this was the main problem with them.

I have to do my brothers wedding cake next month so I will definately be using your suggestions.

Wow!!! What a beautiful cake! You should be proud. I like to use a lot of dowels for support on each layer to avoid tilting, and make sure that final long dowel goes straight down the middle.

Your flower arrangement is beautiful and I love the grooms cake!! Can't wait to see your next creations!

it is very impressive having only been decorating for a month! You did a great job, and should be proud. The flowers are very nice and the colors looks wonderful together.

First make sure your cake is as level as possible. Then stick in a dowel and mark a line. Cut all of your dowels for that cake the same length. IF they arent the same length, your cake will probably look unlevel. I would definitely do a center dowel (especially if you are transporting it stacked) it will keep your tiers from sliding around.

i like the flower arrangement - the roses look in full bloom, and the baby's breath is nice and thick and full, it's not "scattered" looking, as it often is. congrats again!!!

I can see the lean a bit but other than that I think you are being a bit too hard on yourself. They look beautiful to me-very stylish thumbs_up.gif
