What Happened To My Buttercream Transfer????

Help! What did I do wrong? I did my bc transfer and froze it. I took my cake out of the freezer and began icing it. I put it back in the fridge for over an hour to crust and then put my transfer on it. Only parts would transfer???? It would have been the cutest turkey cake but only part of him would transfer. What did I do wrong? How can I keep it from happening again? I spent a lot of time on this thing for it not to come out right. ![]()
I am not sure what you did wrong but when I do my transfer I make sure it is on parchement paper, I do the reverse image on the parchement paper then I put it in the freezer. When it is time for me to put it on the cake I coat the back of it with some of the icing that I used to ice the cake....same colour. This makes the transfer stronger. Then I place it on the cake and push it down gently and then pull of the parchement paper and I have my transfer. Hope this helps Jen!
Well I was using wax paper. Is parchment paper that much different from the wax paper?
I can think of a few things, maybe the transfer wasn't thick enough. I find if they are about 1/4 inch maybe a little less, they come out better. Also I use wax paper with a very thin coat of Crisco for my transfers. I know your next one will come out better. My first one wasn't great, but now I love doing them.
I just did my first one tonight, and I used wax paper with some Crisco on it and it came off easily. I'm so glad the black and red didn't bleed into the white. Maybe the meringue powder helped after all.
Don't give up!
