I am going to be creating a white wedding cake soon and the person wants gold scrollwork on the sides. What is the best way to achieve gold icing?

The best way is to paint the scrollwork with gold lustre dust mixed with pure alcohol, lemon essence or anything similar that will dry quickly. Be careful not to wet the icing to much, it's better to do two thin coats than one heavy coat that may damage your work.

Oz is right...but you can also color the BC with the Gold Americolor (works very nicely) and then paint it with the lustre dust mixed with a tad bit of pearl dust to make the sheen. It's 3 parts lustre with 1 part alcohol and then a few pinches of the super pearl dust. But I am getting ready to do a Anniversary cake with the base color gold and the scroll work in ivory...and the base gold is beautiful without the lustre dust icon_biggrin.gif (americolor gold).
