I am making my sons 1st b-day cake the half sheet cake.I used the three of the flower nails.I pulled the cake straight out of the pan on the parchment paper. Now how do I turn it over to get the nails out without breaking it.I tried to lay another cake board but with the nails I can't flip it over. Thanks so much

Do you have cookie sheets without sides? Or you could use cake boards-slide one under the cake, place the other one on top and flip. This will give you more stability. I always put a cooling rack over the cake while it'sin the pan then flip then place another rack over that and flip again so the cake is now back to the way it was in the pan.

I have it on a cake board and I tried to put another one on top but the nails are sticking way up so I can get it stable enough to flip.Thank you so much for your help

You might be able to flip it with another set of hands to help you get it more stable to flip.

Do you have a cooling rack? Place the cooling rack over the cake with the flower nails poking through the holes then flip rack ,cake ,and cake board all together. Take the cake board off and remove the nails.

No wonder you're a forum superstar! (And I don't think you're new to decorating anymore!) That sounds like the answer to me! thumbs_up.gif

Calm down, take a deep breath.
Remember, these people are coming to celebrate a birthday, NOT to critique your cake - it is a joyous occasion, enjoy it...
And if you have any questions, come ask! icon_smile.gif

LOVE the cooling rack idea! I'd add to that suggestion that you push another sheet of parchment over the points of the nails before you put the rack down over them, so that the lines in the rack don't cut into your soft cake. I hope I wrote that in a way that makes sense to people who can't see in my head! icon_biggrin.gif

YEAH!!!!You go girl. The first of many. It brings back good memories. That is what got me into decorating, my son's first birthday cake. He is not 27 and I still make his cakes. As for doing cakes for others, you will probably get into the same senerio that most of us have done, FREEBIES.LOL Just consider them practice cakes. Just don't let them decide on all the details of the cake at first, just ask for a theme or color and let your skills do the rest. Just remember, once you hone your skills, give yourself a raise and pass out the flyers. HEEHEE
