I'm making bc today (Monday) and will be icing either Wed or Thurs for a cake on Saturday. I use margarine, shortening, ps, vanilla, and water. I never usually refrigerate the icing, but I also never make it two-three days ahead. Does it have to be be put in the fridge until I frost the cakes or will it be fine sealed in a plastic container? TIA. Jodie

I would refrigerate it and just beat it a bit before icing the cake on Wednesday or Thursday.

Thanks for this post! I was just getting on to read previous forums to see if I could find some information on storing BC. I too am going to making BC but I won't be decorating until Friday. Any time saver sure does help.

I always out it in the fridge, but don't know if it really has to be done. It's just habit. I will usually take it out first thing in the morning and it softens up pretty quickly.
