This was my first quincenera cake and i think it turned out pretty good. The mother was my neighbor and i offered to do the cake at cost cuz i really wanted a chance to do a big cake. So she gave me 100.00 and i figured that after i added everything i would let her know what was left. So i showed her my cost which was 150.00 just for supplies and she said ok. She didn't offer to give me any more money though and come the reception she was happy with the cake. My parents gave them 100.00 for the party and my sis gave her 100.00 to and they both recieved a bottle of Wiskey as a thank you at the party but she didn't even offer me and my husband one. I was kind of upset but next time she calls me for a cake(which i know she will) there are no more discounts. I also made a shoe which i will upload in a little bit. Thanks for listening.

Wow!
Thats a gorgeous cake! I have yet to dare and make something as beautiful and elaborate as that.

Keep up the great job Rosita!!!

As for the neighbor, for the next cake don't give her any discounts or anything. I am shocked you didn't even get a Thank you gift, especially as you contributed to the party (And she only two thirds paid you anyhow!!)

icon_surprised.gif No more discounts! You are there thumbs_up.gif THis cake is so pretty and professional (I looked and like all of your work icon_smile.gif ) ; she took advantage of a kind offer. She'd be crazy not to come back for more. Just make sure that you don't waiver and charge what you're worth icon_biggrin.gif

I love your cake!!! Pink and brown are sooo popular these days. Going straight into my favs, that is if it's back up to working right icon_confused.gif

Anyway, I agree she did certainly take advantage of you. Some people just simply have no idea what it takes to make these works of art icon_mad.gif K'ly

It's beautiful!

I was told by cake decorating teacher never to do any cakes for free, not even to family and friends.
