haven't made one before, but maybe have ideas that could help get your wheels turning. You could use a sports ball pan for the body and a mini sports ball pan for the head, then use either modeling chocolate or rice krispies for the ears, arms and legs. Just will have to use dowels for support. Maybe this will give you some ideas anyway.

Could your customer be referring to the Wilton Mickey Mouse pan? It can be seen at

If this is what they're after, it can be hired through a few places in Australia. Where are you based?

just curious, how is that any different from doing a princess cake, elmo cake or something like that? I don't know that's why I'm asking. I thought that you could as long as you were making it yourself, not copying it, i.e. edible images etc.

Sorry - I'm in Sydney. But do a ring-around of local cake-decorating suppliers. If they don't have it, they may know someone who does.

Good luck with that!

can you make a FBCT? I made a FBCT on a cupcake cake of Pooh waving. http://home.comcast.net/~cakesbyteresa/gallery/indiv.html

Or, cambo made a 3D shrek cake. Maybe you could use it as inspiration.

I have done a Mickey Mouse cake like you describe. It was in the 2006 Wilton Yearbook. Just send me a PM and let me know what you need to know about it.

You can see a picture of my Mickey Mouse cake if you look in my gallery. Having problems attaching photos since I switched to Mac/Safari so can't get it to post in the message.

Ok, I just noticed you were in Australia, so I've no idea how the copyright laws work there, but here in the U.S. it's a big no-no. There are a number of threads on copyrighted items.

Disney is one of the biggest sharks about enforcing copyright laws on their characters. The Wilton character pans specifically state the pan is for home-use only and not for cakes to be resold.

This is totally off the original subject, but I was unaware of the copyright laws. I swear I recently saw a pic in the gallery from someone that works in a bakery and there were Wilton character pans hanging on the wall in the background - so I'm thinking they are selling cakes made in the Wilton pans? I'm sure they are probably not the only ones that have ever done it, nor would they be the last - but what if you do a sculpted cake? I can think of tons of copyright violations - especially since this is college football season, and there have been lots of pics already for those. Can you point me in the right direction regarding copyright laws? Thanks.

Here are a few links to threads. Most are very lengthy and include links to website re: copyright. It's all well-worth reading, though. As with any topic on here, there are varying opinions and the law itself can be construed as "vague" at best. If you don't have time to read all of these in one setting, then save this thread for reference later. All of the links below have good info, so don't skip any of them:
