Hi,
My DH grandparents moved from their big house to a tiny apartment last week. So she got rid of a lot of stuff. She gave me this Mirro cooky-pastry press and decorator set. Never used, still in original box, don't look old except for the box. All aluminium. I know to use a cookie press I have one (Wilton's comfort grip) but never had a decorator set. How do you use this? is it really helpful with cake decorating, or should I use it more for cookies and other pastries? There's no guide or booklet with it.

I'm posting a pictures so you know what I'm talking about. It's so pretty but I'd like to make something with it to show her I'm using it.

thanks in advance for any input, links or anything to help me....
LL

That is my absolute favorite cookie press to use. I do not have the smaller one, just the big one. I received it from my MIL and it is about 40 years old or so. It takes a huge amount of spritz cookie dough and you give about 1/2 turn to get the cookies out. I have used electric, pampered chef, wilton, and a few others, but always go back to this one. I do not decorate cakes with it, but love it especially for Spritz cookies at Christmas (and we make tons of them!!). I'm so excited to see another one is such beautiful condition! Take good care of it!

If you already have a good one you like, I bet you could get a bundle for it on eBay, since it's still in the box!

Like MGD Queen said, it's great for spritz cookies, and you don't have to refill with dough quite as often. It's also good to fill eclairs and large cream puffs, but I too haven't used it for any sort of decorating.
