I made a set of deer antler from modeling choc. they look really cool, laying down. I made them yesterday and have them setting out to harden. My concern is when I attempt to place them on the dear head, they won't hold up. Should I freeze them? Is there anything I can do to make them harden up and stay hard for the duration of the birthday? PLEASE HELP!

I'm just guessing here, everything I have read states do not refridgerate. Candy clay does harden very well at room temp. Have you thought of using some wrapped floral wire to give stability to the antlers being attached to the cake? Hope your creation turns out the way you want it.

I use this all the time and it hardens great at room temperature. But, for items that are large support IS needed. So, I agree with hellieOh, try to use the largest floral wire you can obtain so it can bear the weight of the clay. I don't know about the freezing. When you put candy melts in the frig after you have molded them they will "sweat" and that is NEVER a pretty sight. My suggestion would be get 'em out of the freezer now! Good Luck and Post a Pic!!

I haven't frozen my candy clay stuff, but have refrigerated them for a long time. I did notice that after they came out of the frig, they soften to the warmth of either your hands or room temp. I agree with bracing them somehow or forming the candy around a brace if possible.

I just made a pair of antilers 2 days ago out of fondant colored with ivory food coloring. Then painted a little melted chocolate on the to look woody. While they were sitting on the counter drying I places a rolled up piece of papertowel under themfor support. Mine are doing fine.
