My father just had a heart attack and is now on a special diet. The doctor has said he can still have white cake and angel food cake, so I'm sure he's excited about that. Even more so since white is his favorite kind anyway!

So my question is, what is a frosting that is low in fat or calories that still tastes good? I saw a few in the recipe section, but I wasn't sure which would be best or how they taste. I usually use a slight variation of the wilton frosting, and I'm thinking that won't be the best kind for him since it has all of that crisco in it.

Thanks for any help thumbs_up.gif

what bout a simple glaze? honestly, agel food cake I prefer with fresh fruit.

you can make a simple glaze with confectionary sugar, and just a bit of lemon juice and water (mix to wtaever consistency you like)

Strawberry or Chocolate Cool Whip would make an awesome substitute for frosting and they pipe well through a bag!

how about something like "dream whip" or "nutriwhip" ? not sure of the nutritional content of each though

the glaze jmt mentioned sounds good too, add some vanilla extract to it too (or another flavour) to change it up a bit...fresh fruit is fantastic with angel food

enjoy!

Combine light cream cheese with fat-free cool whip and/or fat-free pudding and a teaspoon or two of a good flavoring or light coffee creamer.
