On cake decorating supplies?

How many of us just have to buy "one more thing"? How many of us go to the store to get one thing and come out with a hundred? How many of us cant wait to payday just so we can go and buy another cake decorating tool? How many of us currently have two or more pages up right now looking for things to buy online? How many of us have spent, spent, and then spent some more? How far did you go? Still going? How far are you going to go?

So far this month I have spent about $400 in cake paraphernalia and Christmas hasnt even got here yet!

(Standing up and slowly raising my hand)
Yes, I am guilty! I spend on cake stuff every time I get near a Michael's, Hobby Lobby, or local cake store. And those coupons, well they make me want to get more stuff just because I can save some money.

After I finished my cake decorating classes, I had to have every tip that Wilton made. Last week, I got on a luster dust spree. I went to two seperate cake stores and bought luster dust because one didn't have "enough" colors.

Yes, I have an addiction lol. Is there a twelve step program? Will cake be served for refreshments?

Since I have been decorating cakes I have spent thousands probably, and I am one of those people who is always on ebay looking for stuff to buy, but I am a bargain shopper, I shop not only typical Michaels and hobby lobby, you can find such good deals at yard sales, good wills and salvation army. I probably have spent about $300 bucks this month so far, but I probably have twice that amount in goods, due to my bargain shopping skills. I was very poor a long time ago and always wanted nice things, now that I can afford them I am still shopping consignment stores go figure! I got all my Wilton pans at the good will, I found a brand new round set last week still in the plastic for only $7 good find. I have also found tip sets, and other Wilton stuff, people take the classes then do nothing with their stuff and donate it to the Good will or Salvation army. I never know what kind of good deal I am going to find. So check these type store out! They are great!

I buy something on a pretty regular basis. Not including food items to make cakes, I reckon there's about 7500.00+ in cake supplies here. aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaand...this is my second supply of it. I had a major um uh temper tantrum about 10 years ago and packed up everything I had and shipped it to my sister who had just gotten into cake decorating.
I can't wait until paydays when I can shop in "bulk"!!!!

Hey it is a good idea, and you will not spend a fortune, the glue costs around 5 bucks and well everything else is up to you, you can glue almost anything togeather and as long as the glue is not in contact with your cakes then you are good to go, I am not responsible for over spending LOL, have fun!

I confess that I have a problem, my husband's friends hate to get calls from me. We live 3 hours from Michaels and his friends come home to see their folks at least a couple times a month so they get asked to bring stuff home.
If I didn't live so far from everything I would have alot more than I do because it would be easier to buy just a couple things that my husband would never notice. icon_twisted.gif
As it is my husband was grateful that I had money from cake orders the last time I went to my parents because I only spent a little of his money on cake supplies. icon_lol.gif

We are all addicts. I am trying to ak myself "What will I do with this", instead of just buying. Now that I live in Hawaii I don't have the choices & temptations I had in Los Angeles, but I am still pretty bad.

I don't know how much I have spent but plenty. I took my first class in june 2005 and every time there was a coupon I was there. I have slowed down a little even though I see things I want I try to tell myself to wait until I am going to use. I can say except for some things I needed for the classes I wait until they are on sale or I have a coupons... icon_smile.gif

Literally thousands. But you have to figure that is over 47 years and many of those items are still useable. Then add on top of that the books, the classes I have taken, the airfare and hotel bills getting there, and I hate to think what the total would be. But any hobby is expensive, whether it is golf, fishing or skiing, there is always that initial investment in equipment. And then the extra toys to go along with it.

Well it's hard to say this with hubby sitting right here next to me but I can say I've spent about $5000.~ in cake stuff so far lmao. Well I haven't spent that much but have that much worth of stuff. I shop mainly on eBay and get great deals on stuff and so therefor I need to find more deals and then more and more and more lol I think total out of pocket would be around $3000.~ and to think I haven't even taking the courses yet icon_sad.gif.... I can't wait till pay day to go shopping and when we do go I go in the store to get one thing and come out with 10 or 12 lol. I started out only buying what was needed to make THAT exact cake but then got into eBay and finding deals on there that I just couldn't pass up icon_wink.gif Thrift shops are another great place as I've found many useful things there. Although I haven't been as luck as the lady up there ^ who found a whole set for $7.~ I wish I was that lucky lol would save me $32.~ icon_wink.gif

Oooh scary question!!

I've been collecting stuff for years. I'd say probably $500. I buy a lot at garage sales (great places to find Wilton pans for a couple of bucks)

I need to spend some more, but I need to find a job to support my habit first! icon_cry.gif

I'm at the other end of the spectrum. I HATE spending money. My most expensive item was the Wilton course 1 filled case, and my husband bought that on his way home from work one day.
I love buying pans for 25 cents to $2 at the used stores and trying to figure out all the different ways I can use them...

7yyrt,
I'm with you. I really hate to spend money also. I have a friend who works @ a goodwill type store. She keeps her eye out for stuff for me. I feel like I'm being ripped off if I buy something at the full asking price. icon_lol.gifthumbs_up.gif
