Hi

OK, now I know this might seem like a silly question but I'm only just starting in this cake decorating world! Can someone please tell me what meringue powder is and where I can buy it from?

Any help would be greatly appreciated. icon_lol.gif

Hi maryak,

Meringue powder is dried egg whites and other ingredients like sugar and stabilizers.

You can make fresh meringue by using egg whites, sugar and cream of tartar. However, raw egg white meringue is not recommended for frosting because of the threat of salmonella.

Wilton meringue powder is commonly available at Michael's and Hobby Lobby, Wal-Mart and Meijer's in my area.
