1. wavy edges like this http://cakecentral.com/modules.php?name=gallery&file=displayimage&pid=405813 (i did pm her, it was a gift so she doesnt know)
2. one that can be threaded with ribbon around the edges.
i'd like to know where to buy one and also what they are "called"...its hard to google a product unless you've got the right terms or titles.

I found this one, not too expensive either. I didn't check on shipping charges though. HTH

You should check in Bed & Bath & Beyond or in Marshalls.

i'm always on the hunt for cake stands too. i got a set of 3 about 2 years ago very similar to that ruffled edge one you linked to at sam's for $15. sooo cheap! they also had a square one with a sort of hob-nail edge that came with a server and 6 matching plates for the same price that i didn't get and am still kicking myself over. who would have thought sam's?
I think the one you can put ribbon through was a Martha Stewart one, and I want it too, but I can't find it. I need to check ebay.
