Well, did I ever have fun last night! I've been wanting to make some extra dummies to add to my album and to have some made up for the big bridal fest coming in Jan. Plus the extra experience...

So, I made some MMF and covered a 6, 10, 14" and went to town with different colors of ribbons (I have a lot) and flowers and stands last night. Just on ribbon/floral combos alone, I got 13 (!!) different cakes made and photographed!! I have to develop the film so I can post them, but I had SO much fun.

Then when I exhausted my ribbon ideas, I sat down and quilted and piped a floral embroidered pattern in white-on-ivory on the stacked cake, and I LOVE it. I'll post all the pics later, but I just wanted to say what a blast it was. I can't wait for wedding season...*sigh*

I can't wait to see! I'm really excited for you (jealous too). I just got some cake dummies and I am looking forward to letting loose on them!

I have been wanting to order some dummies and do that! You got 13 pictures out of just using 3 pieces! Sounds like what I need to do. I need pictures!!! You must post them when you get them.

If you haven't done dummies, I would so encourage it!

Go to Walmart or Michael's and stock up on $1 rolls of ribbon (BTW--3 yards is almost exactly what you'll use for a 6, 10, and 14", with a little leftover) and some on-sale silk florals in a variety of colors, and you'll be amazed at the variety of cakes you can get done!

I did those 13 in probably less than 2 hours--just changed out the ribbon and floral, fountain/no fountain, pillars, stacked, etc...

SO fun!
