I have never done a marble cake and was wondering what the best way to do it is?? I have one I have to start on right away for a wedding. My computer has been down and I have been unable to find out sooner. Please help!!!
Also, when covering a cake in fondant is it ok to do it the day before the wedding?? Will the fondant get to hard? I have made one before but on the same day.

For my marble I jsut use one recipie white and one chocolate and use an icecream scoop and alternate the batters and then take a tooth pick and swirl them.
Yes you can do forndant ahead of time just remember that you will need fondant glue to get pieces to stick to each other if the fondant is dry and if you want to texture it that has to be done when the fondant is fresh.

I've always just taken a spoon and "dumped" some on the top of the cake batter. Place it intermittently across the top. Then take a knife (i use a butter knife) and drag longwise through the cake (as if you're forming columns) about every 2 inches then repeat going "shortwise". I've never had problems of over-swirling although some have.

The great part is that nothing has to be measured or perfect. It just happens.
