I was going to do a castle cake for a contest and after a few weeks..YES WEEKS, icon_cry.gif of thinking this through I am still not wrapping my head around how to this. I have received alot of feed back from some others on here (THANK YOU) icon_wink.gif but still I don't think I am going to be able to handle it. So I am now thinking of a topsy turvy cake. I tried the topsy turvy before using the instructions posted on this site and know I can do this cake. Now for the question...the cake has to follow a wizardy theme. Some thing from Harry Potter. I was thinking of doing 4 layers, each in a different hogwarts color..example..first tier maroon and gold for Griffandor, second tier green and black for slytherin ect...what do ya'll think for a cake top? Maybe harry and malfoy dueling on top with wands at the ready? I am hoping to get some suggestions from all you brillant people out there. icon_razz.gif Remember wizardry theme. Thanks you guys for all the help you give. I do not know where all us newbies would be without you! thumbs_up.gif

This was the Theme of the Month in July-I'm sure in 17 pages, there might be some ideas. Also, try searching for Harry Potter in the galleries. There are some great cakes that might spark your creative imagination!

Good luck!

I love the idea of a four-tier, with each tier being the colors of the individual houses... if you're good with modeling, have you thought about putting figures of characters from each house with it's tier? Just a thought, but you could have Snape sitting on Slytherin, Luna sitting on Ravenclaw (or was she Hufflepuff? I can't remember now...), etc. Perhaps McGonagal on Gryffindor... and I'd probably put Hermione, Ron, and Neville climbing the various tiers, trying to get to Harry to help him out. icon_smile.gif

And if you're really ambitious... perhaps a fifth tier on the bottom, with buildings from Hogsmeade, the Forbidden Forest, and maybe the Whomping Willow pictured around that bottom tier?

Just brainstorming here... I'd love to see pics when you're done with it!

You're making me want to make this cake now! LOL Hmmm... maybe I will, for my birthday this year. icon_biggrin.gif

(Yes, I'm an adult, and I've read every book several times now! And no, I don't have kids to justify it... just a love of fantasy and magic. icon_biggrin.gif)

-grin- A few years ago, I went to a Halloween party dressed as Moaning Myrtle... toilet and all! LOL

I'm 36 (almost 37) and I love them, too. icon_smile.gif The last three books, we ended up buying two of each one, because neither one of us would relent and let the other read it first. teehee We donated the extra copies to friends, or to a local coffee shop that lends out books. icon_smile.gif

I'm on pins and needles to see your cake now!!!
