This may sound silly, but here's an idea that just popped into my head...

I know Wilton's makes the aerosol cans of color and you could use those to make a "graffitti" background and then do some kind of turntables or jewelry as the overlaying piece.

Hope this helped!!! thumbs_up.gif

Rap and painting?? Im wondering if he likes graffiti art or Monet. I think if you are doing a sheet cake you could go make the background colorful wiht splashes of color wiht an airbrush, get some photo images of his favorite CD covers and put them onto fondant and place them kind of randomly on the cake. Make some paint brushes out of fondant to lay on the cake and cake board. You can make an Ipod too. AOn the screen of the Ipod write HAPPY BIRTHDAY. I made a cake for a friends son about 2 weekends ago w/a guitar, its in my photos. You could do something like that, less the guitar of course. I can think of a lot of different designs but its late here and Im exhausted but Im so addicted to this site I cant stop myself. icon_biggrin.gif

I like ta2grl's idea, that would be a great cake for a 10 year old boy.

thanks all for the responses. He's more Monet than graffiti, if you can believe it. I couldn't. At least I have 2 ideas that sounds cool ( do kids say that anymore?)

Nice color splashed background with some BLING.

OR a painters palate (don't think I spelled that right) with a gold luster dusted brush to go with it.

What if you did a half-finished painting, maybe like something like monet (use the computer to edit it so that it's half-finished looking.. get an edible image), on an easel or canvas, and then have the tools around (i.e. palette, brushes).
