I've always heard that the Wilton red will change the taste of icing. Does that happen with any other colors? I tried to use the "burgundy" this past weekend and my buttercream had a weird after taste. Help.

Any of the darker colors can do that, black has a nasty taste too.
I put a little cocoa powder in my red icing, not much but just enough to mask the taste. I've also used mint oil instead of cocoa powder, my oldest hates red icing and he really liked that.
