Do you think this carriage was piped right on the cake or was it piped on a piece of fondant? I got this picture from jacquespastries.com. Her cakes are beautiful.

Hmmm its definately raised. She may have just built it up with buttercream underneath first. Those flowers are so pretty-love the soft colors.

I would think it was piped onto fondant or another raised surface in the shape of the carriage. It is gorgeous!

I've made raised designs by adding a single layer 6" on top. It could be cake, cut a wedge out and ice and decorate, add flowers.
Pretty cake.

Could it be made out of RI and then placed on the cake?
