I have to do a 1/4 sheet cake 1/2 "girly" and 1/2 sports fo my son's teacher by tomorrow. Any advice? I figured I'd do pink and purple for the "girly" side but what can I do for sports? Its only a 1/4 sheet so I have to keep the design small.
All suggestions appreciated!!!!!!!!!!!!!

What about making it green like grass and adding some sports balls on it, like a soccerball, a basketball, baseball. Or just pick one sport and make it look like the field..

I agree with tnuty. Since it has to be so small, make a green field and then use a cookie cutter to make a soccer ball, foot ball,or base ball. Or leave it whit and make a basket ball and do the boarder in orange and one of the school colors.

How about camoflage? I've seen some camoflage cakes here that looked great. Or, following up on the sports field idea, how about one whole field with half of it decorated with flowers? Girls are into sports too, afterall.

ok...not sure if you're still taking idea's but here's my two cents....literally?

spilt the cake corner to corner. the girls side, a sweet colorful garden, picket fence piped upt he sides of the cake...the boys side, a baseball infield with a team logo or banner on the side (school or regional mascot?). you can pipe the infield, bases and even experiment with a bench and some bats & balls? that way the whole cake can be iced green...but you'll have to use something very definative to seperate the garden from the baseball field...

on an easier note......you can do the same decorating pattern around the entire cake but use floral decor & polka dots on the girls side then use different sports balls and stars on the boys side. consistent shapes, but still a gender difference?

good luck and don't forget to post pictures!! usaribbon.gif

I love you guys!!! Thanks for all the great ideas. I will be sue to post a pic when I'm done. Fo the sake of thime, I think I will do the grass w/ the different sports balls on one side, and then maybe pink and purlple swirls/wording, etc on the opposite side!
