I'm icing (bc) & filling (choc.ganache) tonight. I will place it in the fridge overnight undecorated then place theMMf/gp decor on tomorrow. My question is if the cake is delivered on Friday, will the cake need to be kept in the fridge until the shower on Sat? How will the MMF & gp decor hold up?

Thanks so much!!

I always keep my MMF covered cakes, figures, bows, and all, in the fridge until delivery (up to a week). I've never had a problem and the cakes stay moist.

One exception -- I accidentally left the lid on a jar of minced garlic loose and had to re-bake an entire cake! Garlic flavored cake was not requested icon_redface.gif

Thanks so much. The cake is actually frosted with bc with MMF/gp decor. Do you mix gumpaste with your MMF? Have you noticed if the decor gets softer?
Thx!

I only mix gumpaste with fondant for 3D pieces that either need to dry fast or just need strength, such as anything I plan on sticking a wire in and large figures. Otherwise, cut-outs, balls and small figures work just fine with MMF. I don't like using gum paste straight.

I've never done a cake frosted with BC and only the MMF as accents, but I have never had a problem with my BC crumbcoats in the fridge.

You might want to keep it inside a cardbox and bring it to room temp before taking it out of th box to be safe, but I don't see what could go wrong -- Unless the BC is too thick or soft under the fondant. The fondant might slide off as the BC warmed.
