I am about to start my daughter's 10th birthday cake. It will be a 3 tiered round with a whimsical theme, nothing too crazy. In the back of my head though I keep thinking of the last cake I did and how nerve racking it was. I thought it would be fun sharing the cakes that gave us the biggest challenge to complete. So here goes:
I posted this cake on a previous post a little over a month ago. I worked on decorating it for about 18 hours and at 20"x9" it weighed in at about 25lbs. This one had me questioning myself big time:

You car turned out great. I would gladly share the picture of a topsy cake I did last July that was the death of me.....but the @$#^%@# thing collapsed before I got a picture of it. The bottom layer was really soft and it gave out when I started to carve it. Nothing could save it.
mine was the first big tiered cake.It wasn't that I didn't know how to construct it but the layers were heavy and caused bulging so I had to pick off all the daisies and re smooth and then make new daisies.Grrrrrrr in the end it was really nice.

my most challenging cake was the stack of books in my photos. It was 5 books, each book was a different flavor, I had 3 different icings, and we had two house guest at the time I had to do it, normally two house guest isn't bad except when my me and my BF are out growing our house... add two more... and well.. I worked all over the house wherever I could find a flat surface.
I also needed help to move it, I estimate it to weigh about 40 pounds, the 1/2" plywood base even flexed a little ![]()
