I am making one of Peggy Porschen's cakes from my mother in law's 60th birthday this weekend but I am only making one tier, the 8 inch one. I was thinking that the top of the cake would look a bit plain but I can't figure out what sort of topper or adornment I should make to go with it. Any ideas? Here is a picture of the cake, the black and white one (only i'm making it red and white) TIA!

If you're using the same decorations ie flowers then do 3 bigger ones and put them on top in a pyramid style. Flowers you can do are roses but i'd do sunflowers or gerbera.

Hi,
You could make a nice #60 some how, either card stock or wood numbers and paint to match the colors that you are doing and put that on top.

I was thinking along the same lines as Dawncurby. A "60" would look nice in the black & white color scheme. A monogram would also be simple but classy. Does she have any special interests or items she collects?

I was thinking that you could put a monogram of her first initial on there...That's a pretty cake. So, my vote would be for the monogram or for the #60 like others have suggested.

hiya, the way i'd do it is use half flower paste and halp fondant. Cut out the number 60 but cut it with a bit at the bottom a semi circle to form a stand. You need 2 of them. Then glue the number together but not the stand. Use a w shape to dry the pieces.
