Hi all....I'm new to fondant, and all the books I have on fondant say to let bows, curly q's etc dry before attaching to cake. My question is: does the fondant get hard like royal icing when it dries? If it does, then isn't that gross to eat? icon_eek.gif

It gets hard but not ROCK hard. If you want your bows to harden use a 50/50 gumpaste to fondant mixture or 100% gumpaste and yes...it looks pretty and it IS "edible" but no I wouldn't eat it.

For bows I would think that you would have to make them with a mix. I make the chips on my taco salads out of plain fondant cuz I want them to taste good! I figure this may be someone's first experience with fondant and I dont want them to literally be left with a bad taste in their mouth! icon_lol.gif

Eventually it gets hard. gumpaste and fondant mixed 50/50 is best.
