Let me tell you I have struggled all day today trying to find a box (because I NEVER deliver a cake without a box) to fit an unusual cake order....ahemm....ya know the kind....usually in the naughty section kind of cake... Anyways...I go quite a ways to go to a Michaels who of course could not help me at all...in fact have you noticed them not carrying much of a selection? (first let me tell you I have a bulk order in now and it won't be here on time , just to clear this up).....went to a Kroger in a different town a few days before and of course the girl couldn't find her head up her @$$ to help ME soo....ANYWAYS..I go to a different Kroger..what the hey it was worth a try right? IT WAS WELLLLL WORTH IT icon_biggrin.gif..... What a bunch of sweethearts!!! They gave me the full size sheet cake boxes PLUS enough cupcake holders for 100 cupcakes for $2.50!!!! icon_biggrin.gif What a wonderful world icon_biggrin.gif ( I guess when things go our way we see things in a different perspective!)

Good for you! I've always been too scared to go to the grocery store and ask! I'm such a chichen. icon_redface.gif

Glad they were able to help you. See, there are some descent people left in the world, and of course, they were decorators! thumbs_up.gif

Wow...good for you. It usually never hurts to ask.

I asked extremely politely at the grocery if they could sell me a box for a very large cake and a snarky witch (sp) overheard and yelled over her shoulder - we don't sell anything like that with our name on it. Let me tell you, if my kids hadn't had been with me, I woulda let her have it. The girl behind the counter was suprised and I'm sure she would have just said, sorry, it has our name on it so we can't sell it empty.

Well at first I was scared that it did say Kroger on the box...but it doesn't. When I got home I noticed it said homemade fresh or something like that.

MessyBaker don't be afraid...just ask...all they can do is snort at us or even say YES icon_biggrin.gif

Jen I had that happen to me once at Wal Mart and I just kindly told the lady that she had NO business working with the public...that geez woman it was just a question. She is ALWAYS snooty...didn't change icon_sad.gif

We had 2 Safeway's close last week. They both gave me all their pink boxes they used for doughnuts for free.

They are perfect for cupcakes.

I always go to King Soopers (Kroger). They are so helpful and they are just about the only ones that will sell you Buttercream and Whipped frosting plus fillings. It sure beats driving across town.

Isn't that strange? My Kroger akaicon_biggrin.gifillion's wouldn't sell me so much as a cupcake liner! They sell the giant muffin tins, and I looked all over the store figuring if they sold the pan, the papers should be close by....not the case.

The person behind the bakery counter was overly happy to explain they DON'T sell bakery items. PERIOD, end of discussion.

I love that Dillion's store, but that dear sweet thang in the bakery dept. can ride outta there on the broom she came in on.
