Can rolled buttercream recipe be used to mold figures? I am out of gumtex, no tylose, and won't get any for a while, and MMF seems to not hold detail. I WANNA PLAY! lol I'm bored, no reason to make another cake, and my fiance said NO to decorating his pineapple upside down cake today.

Please? Playdough just wont cut it tonight

Noooooo, rolled buttercream is way softer than MMF, sorry! You can do simple decorations in it, but I add gumtex to my rolled buttercream even to do roses.

I once saw a cake where a lady used really stiff buttercream to make fish. I haven't used roll buttecream so I don't know how soft or thick it is, but you can try some stiff buttercream with extra powder sugar added to it. I guess it also depends on what you want to do with it.

If you are really in the mood to do something, try it out and see if then you can let us all know how it goes.

Thank you for the replies! Didn't try it yet, but I did use peanutbutter playdough! Just made a few teddy bears, etc, for the kids.

I plan on making RBC soon, will post how it turned out.
