Monogram - What Order??

I know that it's a first name initial last name initial first name initial - but do you put the girls name first or the boys name first??

Example
#1 Jane Smith Matthew - JSM

OR
#2 Matthew Smith Jane - MSJ

Any ideas???

Ettiquite and tradition has girl's name first. So your example #1, jSm, is correct.
