Just completed a birthday cake decorating class that had a horse head cake like in my photos. I cannot believe that it is the 5th one THIS week!

The one that I demo-ed in the class took my 20 minutes to do...I'm getting goooooood! LOL!!!

Now here is my complaint...the mother of the birthday girl wanted a horse head cake. So I made one and then took another cake to show the girls how it was done. They were to cut and serve the one that I made and leave the demo-ed one for the store employees.

I go back to the store and they are looking all over for the cake...IT IS GONE!!!! Even the little 6" one that I also demo the roses on was gone. Called Mom and she took it...took them ALL!!! Stated that she thought they got all the cake. I explained that the brochure states that they get one cake for the party, in addition to the 6" cakes that the guests decorate. She wanted her husband to see the cake I made and they took the other one to eat.

Hello??? I even told the mom that the other cake was for the store employees. I had kitchen cleaned and her cake was already packaged to take home. Well, I guess I should be flattered that my cakes are so popular. Okay--feel better now that I have gotten that off my chest. I just hope I have a week or two before some wants a horse cake...LOL!!!

WOW! What did you say to her? Is she paying you for the extra cake?

I should have told her she needed to pay for the other cake but it was a couple of hours since the party. What I really should have said is that the sculpted cake costs $50.00 or return one of them.

She didn't even offer to pay for the extra cake after I called her.

Congratulations on your sale of a herd of horse cakes.

But my, wasn't that so RUDE of the Mom!

(I think a lack of common courtesy causes so many of life's problems and this is a great example.)

How was the situation resolved?

Mac, I did my first horse cake yesterday (it's in my photos), and that thing just about killed me!!! I will NEVER do one again...okay, maybe I will...but not for a while... Kudos to you for cranking FIVE out this week!!! WooHoo!!! I just did my third princess/tiara cake today...it was for my 6 year old's party. I have really gotten good at those tiaras...Funny what looks so daunting until you do a bunch of them. Congrats on the horse cakes!!!
