I have used both. I prefer wilton because I can get some here in Germany w/o ordering online. But they both worked great for me!

Ateco, I have had some from years ago and they have rusted. They also thave a seam that will start rusting. Wilton is okay to start with. I love Berknal and PME for string work. No burs in the end to trist the icing around. HTH

My ateco have rusted also, but I use wilton and ateco interchangably. I got 99% of my tips free when I took cake decorating classes. It actually wasn't free because there is a materials fee, but the materials fee is no more than the materials fee for other baking classes.

My daughter is also left-handed. She took the cake decorating classes with me and we purchased the left-handed tips. They helped her a great deal with some of the angles of the designs. I also bought some ateco tips because they were special ruffles. They do rust and it didn't take mine long. All of my other tips are Wilton.
